Terry's Tips
  • SandingWe sand every piece starting with a 120 grit sandpaper. Then, once the furniture is sanded, stained and lacquered, we wet sand between coats of lacquer. Every piece of furniture gets at least 3 coats of lacquer for a truly durable furniture finish.
    Be aware when sanding plywood, as it is fairly easy to sand through the veneer. End grain (table top ends, seat edges, grooves on turnings, etc.) absorbs more stain. Extra sanding in these areas with a 320 grit sandpaper will reduce this, and ensure a more evenly stained piece.
    When sanding is complete, wipe the surface with a cloth or tack rag, making sure the piece is free of dust before proceeding.
